What is the MARTA score?
The MARTA score is a clinical prediction tool developed to support decision-making in neurointervention. Like other scores used in cerebrovascular practice, it combines a small number of routinely available clinical and imaging variables into a single estimate that can inform discussion between clinicians, patients and families.
Prediction scores do not replace clinical judgement. They are most useful as a structured starting point, making the factors that drive prognosis explicit and consistent, particularly in time-critical settings.
The MARTA score can be calculated free of charge using the online tool.

Interpretation and limitations
As with any prediction model, the MARTA score should be interpreted in the context of the population in which it was derived and validated. Estimates apply to groups of similar patients rather than guaranteeing the outcome of any individual, and results should always be integrated with the full clinical picture and discussed within the treating team.
This page is intended as an educational resource for medical practitioners. If you are a patient and have questions about what a score means for you, please discuss it with your treating doctor.
